Key Account Manager - Remote (Houston or Dallas, TX)

Department: National Accounts
Location: Dallas, TX

Under the direction of the Vice President of Sales - National Accounts, the incumbent will be responsible for managing and growing our sales in the assigned region. The incumbent will also target many other strategic grocery and c-store retail customers within the assigned region.

Candidates must reside in or around (Houston or Dallas, TX ) to be considered for this role.

Core Functions/Duties

Develops, maintains, and improves client relationships in the assigned region.

  • Manages strategic relationships with regional retailers, as well as specific smaller retailers, as defined by the VP of Sales – National Accounts, with up to $15MM annual book of business.
  • Maintains high-level customer contact and drives execution through our nationwide DSD network.
  • Develops and maintains a solid business relationship with key decision-makers within the account, focusing on merchant & replenishment level.
  • Utilizes the pre-call planning process prior to all calls to ensure sound financial decision-making.
  • Manages brokers and accounts to optimize services while maintaining the primary relationship with the customer.
  • Conducts joint business planning reviews with customers to update them on the progress of mutually agreed upon objectives, KPIs, and scorecards.

Responsible for driving and execution of the business plan & fiscal budgeting.

  • Owns accurate and timely sales forecasting to support organizational goals by forecasting, reporting, and analyzing market trends on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for the implementation & maintenance of the annual customer business planning and fiscal budgeting targets.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of all designated accounts business and operational strategies.
  • Manages territory P&L and delivers agreed-upon volume and market share objectives.
  • Manages chargebacks, deductions, and unsaleables to Company standards.

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Time management and project management skills a must!
  • Attention to details and dedication to getting things right
  • Maintain high level of organization, time management and project management skills, commitment to follow through, enthusiasm, and motivation

Education/Experience

  • 5-8 years of sales experience in CPG, required
  • Strong analytical thinking
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • Experience with the following accounts, preferred
    • Brookshire Grocery
    • Circle K
    • Kroger
    • Allsups
    • Affiliated Foods
